Songwriter's choice. Pace's solo debut resonates with a clear sound that leaves no detail unfinished. Part John Prine part Elvis Costello, all good.

Details:
Thomas Pace just may be the best singer/songwriter you've never heard of, but if you love alt-country or have roots music in your veins you should take a listen. His rich stories and snapshots in time told through a distinctive and edgy voice are what separate Pace as a truly unique performer. Pace's style is intense and honest, stemming from the often aggressive arrangements to the profound lyrics - an Elvis Costello meets Wilco kind of groove and a taste fit for any eclectic palate.

For the last four years, Pace has put out nothing but first-rate music. Pace wrote the songs for Chicago pop-roots rock quartet Rusk's two highly-praised CDs, which have been featured on WXRT's "Local Anesthetic" with Richard Milne, including spots on the weekly
"Local Anesthetic Capsule," and multiple times on WBEZ's National Public Radio program "Eight Forty-Eight," produced in Chicago. Playing regularly at venues such as The Elbo Room, Martyr's and The Beat Kitchen, Pace and Rusk developed a steady following and a trail of admiration.

At the insistence of friends and fans who over the years had heard dozens upon dozens of arrows flown from Pace's quiver of personal material, Pace finally gave into their pressure and cut a solo CD, entitled "Walking Distance." Pace's latest effort still retains all of the rhyme and reason Pace brought to Rusk, but "Walking Distance" exposes another layer of creativity from this blue-eyed son. For "Walking Distance," Pace mixes hard-hitting pop and alt-country anthems with heartbreaking ballads, and demonstrates his on-going mastery of the songwriting craft.

"I think this record has an organic quality to it," says Pace with a customary don't take me too seriously smile, "It's like a collection of stories that I've heard told around the campfire and conversations that I've had on long drives . . . I tried to capture the mood of those times."

Pace's remarkable debut "Walking Distance" (soon to be released on Break-Neck-Speed-Records) boasts ten tracks woven together with such deliberate ease the CD as a whole takes on life that is greater than the sum of its parts.
