ABOUT "WHISPER TO THE NIGHT"

(Tracks 1 - 5) The Nocturnes have a definite Late Romantic style to them, somewhat reminiscent of Chopin and Rachmaninoff. However, they also carry a unique flavor that is all Daniel's own.

(Tracks 6-8) These three pieces make up "The Lone Hiker Suite". They are a collection of impressionistic pieces with sections of jazz improvisation. Each movement paints scenes encountered by the "lone hiker".

(Track 9) "Birds" is an impressionistic style piece with a new age flavor.

(Track 10) "Whisper to the Night" The mysterious sounding title track.

(Track 11) "The Princess" Violin-piano duet. A smooth sounding piece with subtle jazz rhythms. Violin part performed by Daniel's wife Carla.

(Track 12) "The Walk of Salty Walt". A fun jazz piece that alludes to an older style.

ABOUT DANIEL PADRON

Daniel Padrón (pronounced pah-DRONE) was born in Caracas, Venezuela in 1966. When he was merely 3 years old, his mother discovered that he had perfect pitch when from another room he correctly identified notes she played on the piano.

During childhood Daniel was exposed to jazz and Latin music by his father, though he also credits his American mother for influencing his musical style. At age 13, Daniel began studying piano. Around the same time he began developing original tunes, some of which were further developed years later as solo piano or jazz compositions.

He attended Georgia State University where he studied piano with Geoff Haydon while getting his B.A. in Music Theory. Perfection of his piano technique was furthered by friend and colleague You-Ju Lee. Daniel's talent as a composer emerged during his college years, and some of his jazz works were performed by Georgia State students.

Shortly after finishing college, Daniel started a 6-piece Latin Jazz band called Wild Rice (www.wildrice.net) which performs many of his original Latin jazz pieces. The band has stayed together for over 10 years, continuing to celebrate life through their energetic jazz pieces.

One of Daniel's recently completed composition projects is a collection of nocturnes for solo piano using all 24 major and minor keys, in the tradition of the preludes composed by Bach, Rachmaninoff, and Chopin. The first five nocturnes may be heard on his CD "Whisper to the Night".
