ROCK: Modern Rock, POP: Today's Top 40

Details:
In an industry torn between artistic merit and commercial success, Paul Lewis' solo debut, Get On With It, is a record that satisfies the demands of both. A sarcastic symphony of pop, the dawn of a post modern renaissance of rock n roll that takes you on a lyrical journey with doses of reality and romanticism, hope filled harmonies and melodies that scream and shout from the soul.

Paul Lewis grew up in Maryland taking voice and guitar lessons, performing wherever and whenever he could. He attended Salisbury State University where he majored in theater. While performing in a production at the college, Paul caught the eye of a founding member of the band "Y-NOT!?" After auditioning, all the pieces were in place and Paul began mesmerizing audiences in his new role as front man to the band.

"YNOT!?" released A Thrilled Voice which catapulted Lewis and the band to the front ranks to the Mid-Atlantic music scene. Eventually to the dismay of a legion of fans, the group parted ways. Paul decided to continue pursuing music by forming the successful "Dead City Radio" and then ultimately decided on a solo career. He said his goodbyes, packed a U-haul and hit the road.

Paul arrived in Los Angeles without a band, money or a job for the first time in his career. Since then, he has never looked back. "Singing and performing" he declares "is what I do, it's who I am, it's in my blood". Paul began to build a devoted following in LA with performances at high profile venues such as The Roxy and The Gig. He kept writing new music while entertaining audiences and found himself continually being asked the question, "How do I get a Paul Lewis record?" One night while playing a gig, the answer walked in the door. Paul became part of the Los Angeles indie label Realize Records and began recording his first solo album.

Lewis shuns the Zoloft-addled ego masturbation that has more or less dominated music shelves over the last decade with Get On With It for a genuine theme of hope and exuberance. The sentiments expressed in such standout tracks as Circles and Alone we bear witness to Paul's indestructible faith in the ability of the human spirit to overcome even the most deeply wounding of personal fears and doubt. "It's about being positive, about moving forward and making the best of everything. I'm very optimistic and that's a great place to be." Paul reveals. This is not to say that the album is a trite collection of happy pop songs, certainly not. Paul's is a voice of hard-won experience, as he demonstrates on tunes such as Welcome to Hollywood, a narcotic evisceration of the shark infested LA entertainment world, and most notably in his observations of the disconnected urban netherworlds that are the dark environs for Elizabeth and the intense roar of Red. As poet, Paul is not shielding us from the uglier aspects of this life, but rather embracing them as necessary pit stops along the road to spiritual evolution.

Paul has performed over 4,000 live shows and the experience has served him well. His live performance has all the ingredients of a true rock show; volume, passion, sex, drama and charisma. A creative and captivating performer that pulls the audience in and doesn't let go.
