In her debut CD, Water Through Stone, Shantell Ogden sets an articulate stage for her own journey as a performing songwriter. Her pure alto voice complements introspective lyrics that reflect genuine experience.

The mid-tempo title track, âWater Through Stone,â is a summary of lifeâs journey âI was raised with a history / of blue collars deep roots / Iâve got years in the attic / that I never outgrew.â The gentle ballad âStayâ describes a powerful memory, âI found your old sweater, the one you left here last December / when the rain came and soaked us through / Itâs like finding old love, it doesnât fit but itâs soft to touch / it smells like rain, dripping with you.â

âLeaving Youâ captures a story of starting over in 60 words while âWe Come Hereâ is an authentic view of both the faith and hypocrisy within a group of churchgoers. Shantell wrote six of the albumâs seven songs, the only exception being âWhere You Areâ written by Derek Shampine.

The album features the work of some of Nashvilleâs finest session musicians (Danny Parks, Tommy Wells and John Vogt). It was produced by Jay Vern and recorded, mixed and mastered in his studio, Jayâs Place, on Music Row in Nashville.
