Ok You have never met me, the only thing I know we share in common is music. All I want to see in this world is people following their heart. You may not be digging on these songs, but I can tell you when I sing the world disappears and the universe is opened before my eyes. Life will destroy me if I don't fight back and I choose music as my weapon. My Brother and my best friend stand by me and we are The Sheeny Men. Music touches me so much so that I can only imagine playing music with Xander and Charlie, The two people that will never leave me.......we all need someone. If you are wondering why we would ever call ourselves Sheeny Men, I will tell you. it all started with my father, as young children he would tell charlie and I about this old haggard man who would rome the streets at night looking for disobedient children left on front porches and those bad little children were never seen again......"so you boys better go straight to bed or Dad will have to leave you on the front porch for the sheeny man." In my minds eye, I saw this old man covered in rags waiting in the shadows for the chance to steal away yet another child. As i grew up I learned that the mystical figure I held in my daydreams had actually been a real man. This man would travel through neighborhoods and collect the junk that no one else wanted. He would take it home make it shiny and beautiful and then turn around and sell it again. This is all I had heard of up until we started looking for a band name. When we mentioned the name to some of our friends they looked at us with a puzzled look,,,saying do you realize what sheeny realy means.....?????no????...well it is a jewish slur. When Charlie, xander and I heard this we wanted nothing to do with it. For some reason I kept trying to justify this name for our band, and read why this name has haunted jewish people. I learned that Shaine was the yiddish root for sheeny and it meant beautifull, unfortunately antisemites had taken it and twisted the name to mean ugly fate. After many days of debating within the band and among our friends, we realized why We were sheeny men. Music is always changing its form through the ages, all any artist does is collect the musical fragments that lay at his feet and with a little work, beauty is restored once again. Then these vagabonds at heart travel from city to city selling their wares. everything sounds good so far but we haven't accounted for that ugly fate. Well Charlie and I were going to college to become a stable number within the ranks of the middle class. We had to choose, do we read and study music, become scientists of our art or do we put down our scantron and actually pursue music on the many stages of Detroit. We had to follow our heart. We left school and started down a road with no clue where it led. As soon as we left the safety net of college perminantly behind us all of a sudden this ugly fate reared its head. All those who knew us and for some odd reason knew better than us told us this was just an excersize in futility. Drugs, sex and that all consuming image of Rock and Roll would destroy us physically and spiritually, then in old age we would only wake to realize that it had all been a waste. We had found our ugly fate and we fully embrace it if you aren't tired of me yet thank you I could go on about all my wants and needs. But thank you ,not for looking at this record , diggin our music, or buying our record but giving me a minute to explain myself to you.
