Shawty Raw is a talent in and of his own right. Hailing from Wilson, North Carolina, Shawty Raw has been blessing rap fans with his lyrical talent since his early teenage years. Born as Marquell Edmondson, he spent his youth plagued with obstacles, strife and struggle. After surviving a gunshot wound in the head, Shawty Raw, now 23 years of age, emerged from the heartache of the streets as a blueprint for success, mastering the arts of freestyle, song writing, and music production. As the first official rap artist representing North Carolina, Shawty Rawâs talents is one of many, as he rolls with a camp of other artists who also maintain the same level of skill. Otherwise known as the K.I.L.O. camp (Killing Individuals Lyrically Overnight), this mirage of talent was created several years ago in the heart of Greenville, South Carolina. Although this is a camp of many, the founding group consists of Big June, Reese B, Arson and, of course, Shawty Raw himself.
