After a five year hiatus Son of Clyde delivers his sophomore effort titled âThe Reality Show.â Like the 2003 debut âNo One Left To Lie To,â this remains a one man effort. Jeff Smith (aka SoC) provides vocals, harmonies, programming, digital and analog synths, bass, guitar, etc. He also recorded, mixed, and produced all 13 tracks on the album.

The Reality Show finds Smith five years older and a lot happier. While there is still some brooding angst to be found lyrically, the overall musical tone of âThe Reality Showâ is a much more pop oriented than the critically acclaimed debut.

Smith is one of those rare artists who has managed to create his own sound while still maintaining mass appeal and independent credibility. There is just no way to successfully pigeon-hole his music. If forced to make comparisons, one might envision the best of 1980âs synth pop ala Depeche Mode meets Peter Gabriel meets Ben Lee. And still such arbitrary parallels do not adequately describe his sound.
