(ID 508959)
Original songwriting and instrumentals with a poignant, modern relevance springing from the blues and fingerstyle tradition.

14 MP3 Songs
FOLK: Political, BLUES: Acoustic Blues

Details:
Phil Kaelin has been playing since age 13, acoustic and electric, writing since 1979 and playing solo and in bands since then. After years of joyously playing his songs with processed electric guitar in a band context, Phil bought a '74 Dobro 33-D in '96 which opened the door to fingerstyle and resurrected his interest in early blues, Fahey and folk music. Fingerstyle and slide has led to a renewed passion for writing about the things that matter to him as well as for lengthy instrumental journeys. Says Phil, "I have been mining there since, looking inward, trying to make it mine somehow."
Phil plays in standard and open tunings on acoustic and resophonic guitars including National,Dobro and Regal as well as Taylor and Martin guitars.
Benny Green wrote in FACE magazine regarding "River Music",
Phil's first release:
"There's no doubt that Phil Kaelin's heart lies with the blues...yet two of the best songs are ones Kaelin wrote, one of which isn't even a blues...that you'll want to rewind to again and again."
