Carlos Enrique was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He attended de Pablo Casals Conservatory of Music and studied composition with Amaury Veray and guitar with Leonardo Egurbida. Later, he graduated magna cum laude in Music and Classic Guitar.

He received several awards for his exceptional talent in composition. In 1981 he was awarded 3rd prize finalist in the Mobil Corporation Classic Guitar competition in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and was the only one to receive honorable mention for his original compositions. In 1983, 84â and 85â he was awarded 1st, 3rd and 1st prize by the Institute of Culture of Puerto Rico for his compositions based on Puerto Rican dances for classic guitar. He later studied in the United States at the Esther Boyer College of Music in Temple University in Philadelphia with the maestro Peter Segal. He again graduated magna cum laude, with a Master in Music and Post Master Diploma in Performance.

One the most important composers of Puerto Rico, Amaury Veray ( 1922-1995 ) in an award ceremony said, âCarlos Enrique is one of our most gifted young composers and guitarists. I am so proud tonight... What a joy for me tonight to present to you this 1st prize award on behalf of the Institute of Culture of Puerto Rico on this 19 th day of May, in this year 1983 for your composition and contribution to our cultureâ

"Impressions" CD is produced by O'More College of Design. The album includes music for classic guitar, cello, violin and chamber orchestra, all original. Carlos's music has been described as reflective, beautiful, joyful and elegant.
