Civilianman. He is Eugene, Oregon's best-kept secretâ¦even Eugene doesn't really know about him, save some few close friendsâ¦and his mom. Perhaps that will change. Civilianman consists of Carson Black, a believer, a seeker of truth, and a human, with all the strengths and weaknesses that come with the territory. Civilianman has taken it upon himself to explore those ups and downs of being human in light of his God-given rationality, but most importantly, in light of the God-given Bible, and then present his discoveries in music form. It is his hope that his occasional brushes with truth will resonate with his listeners, be they believers or non-believers, and lead them to discover the truth from their own perspective. For, as a wise man once said, the truth is like a soccer game; though there is only one game being played, there are as many perspectives on that game as there are people. Civilianman attempts to humbly present his own perspective. This humility manifests itself in a somewhat comic approach on otherwise serious material. It is the Kierkegaardian, and human, balance of the pathos and the comic that Civilianman seeks in his art (though Kierkegaard may be rolling in his grave to be, possibly, so misinterpreted).
