Details:
In 1993 the journey began with a group in small town British Columbia called the dead MCs'. It was then that a man who would come to be known as Planit formed his style of raw lyrics and poetic genius. In 1996, Planit moved to big city Alberta and with the inspiration of Kool Moe D, 3rd Bass, the Beatles and Portishead formed an ever deepening style. In 1998 he joined forces with AlterOne and Calgary DJ Cadillak Kid to form a group called the Ill Natured Freshmen. Like many underground hip hoppers before them, they first arrived on the scene in the form of self produced 4 track tapes and home recordings. On the strength of these tapes, Planit started to appear regularly in local clubs like the Bamboo and the Den on the campus of the University of Calgary where he continues to be a strong draw. Planit has released 3 independent albums to date; Missing2wisemen, Hours Spent and this years Onword.
2004 marked a year of great strides for Planit. During the summer he opened for Canadian icons Swollen Members, Juno Winner Leroy Brown, Abstract Rude and Mind-bender. When he joined forces with new Calgary Indie label Top Shelf Records, he made a pilgrimage to Cincinnati ohio where he made connections with Mr. Dibbs, Doom Tree and Upandaboverecords.
