Polly Fiveash & Anand Nayak met in '94 while attending a college in CT. Despite their instantly deep connection (they later married) and their evident love of music, it took some time before they really began to work on music together.

Anand, who was raised near Boston, MA, was busy with many other musical projects during this time. He picked up a B.A. in music and spent years honing his skills as a singer, multi-instumentalist, songwriter, arranger and producer with various rock bands and singing groups, even spending one memorable summer playing in a full-time steel drum band.

Meanwhile, Polly was discovering her talents as a songwriter. Growing up in Cambridge MA, Polly was surrounded by music. She inherited her family's love of folk, r&b, and gospel music, and sang in school and community choirs. Given her musical upbringing and natural writing ability, Polly's leap into songwriting was just waiting to happen.

The duo moved to Northampton, MA in 2000, where Anand began playing with Rani Arbo & daisy mayhem, the acoustic folk-swing-groove band that he continues to perform with. Through his production work with nationally acclaimed children's performer Steve Roslonek, he began to acquire recording equipment and instruments. By 2003 they had a project studio in their apartment, and began to experiment with recording their songs. This experimentation has finally produced a full-length record of original songs, Polly & Anand's 2005 release The Road the Wheels & the Ride.
