Details:
Quasi Nada is not your typical rock band. Well traveled through Cuba, Brazil, and Africa, they add a deep polyrhythmic groove to their funk and hip-hop based music. Fun, but fierce, Quasi Nada is about celebration, and celebration of the groove.

According to Jay Roulston, who leads the group's horn section, "We just write music that feels good. We get together and write from our experiences. It's a gut thing. The Cuban and Brazillian side comes out because many of us have spent time absorbed in those cultures, but we grew up in the states, so that will always be the soul of the band." The music is definitely American (soul, funk, hip-hop). But it is also infused with a Cuban and Brazillian vibe. "We love to play this music because it is exactly the kind of show we would like to go see," admits bassist Justin Cayou, "That's what makes it exciting for us and the audience picks up on it. It's all very real."

Quasi Nada's debut Album, INTERRUPT THIS BROADCAST, was recorded in Seattle and Brazil and features up-tempo dance grooves intermixed with groove-pop and hip-hop anthems. Recently, Quasi Nada has played sold out shows with the likes of Ozomatli and the Rebirth Brass Band and regularly headlines Seattle's biggest clubs. "We share a love for warmer climates and the kind of creativity that comes with relaxed cultures," says drummer Chris Stromquist (also the drummer for Kultur Shock and Glorious), "But the Northwest is a good place to take what we learn and make it our own. So we have the best of both worlds. Quasi Nada is a conduit where we get to combine all of that. We get to take those influences and make this unique music that we love."
