Details:
Rahmlee Michael Davis: trumpeter, composer, vocalist and arranger. Rahmlee's roots stem from Chicago's South Side, known for its exceptional jazz instrumentalists and singers since the turn of the twentieth century. As the son of a singer, Estelle Davis, and a big band leader, saxophonist Richard "Dick" Davis, Rahmlee grew up with a rich musical heritage. He picked up his first trumpet at the age of 14 and soon received the support of Chicago's finest creative jazz minds. As his natural music talents grew, he recorded and played with all of the Chicago greats from B.B. King and Curtis Mayfield to Gene Chandler and Ramsey Lewis. Early in his career as a studio musician he recorded on such labels as Columbia, Capital, Brunswick, Chess, Dekar, Curtom, to name a few.
His versatile and unique musical style, a combination of avant-garde jazz, R&B and rock provided some of the inspirational seeds for the creation of EARTH WIND & FIRE by jazz drummer Maurice White. Rahmlee joined his best friend and accomplished fellow musician Don Myrick in the EW&F horn section, creating THE PHENIX HORNS section, which also included the late Lui Lui Satterfield and Mike Harris, recording and touring with EW&F for more than eight years. His distinctive trumpet sound contributed to the many Gold, Platinum and Grammy awards, garnered by this great and musical history making pop/rock band.
The EW&F world tours are still recognized as some of the best and most successful ever staged.
Noting the explosive presence with EARTH, WIND and FIRE, Phil Collins initiated a musical coup and established a special horn section, now known as THE PHENIX HORNS as an important element of his decade long string of Gold and Platinum records and many successful world tours.
Rahmlee has performed internationally for millions during 14 years of nonstop touring, with over 100,000,000 million in record sales worldwide (EWF and Phil Collins). Now on his own, he delivers his sweet trumpet styles in a sea of beautiful arrangements in this his fifth solo album, "INTIMACY". Rahmlee tours today as a soloist with a 5 member back up band consisting of keyboards, drums, guitar, bass and percussion.
Rahmlee's earlier CD's are: "Keep on Getting Down" on Arms Records, "Heartbreaker" and "Rise of the Phenix" on Head First Records and "Souljazz" on Honest Records.
Rahmlee and his wife Betty, an established fashion/haute couture/costume designer under the banner of FENNER ORIGINALE reside in Chatsworth, California where they are active in their church and direct the activities of the Rahmlee Foundation which is dedicated to bringing a knowledge of the rich history of jazz music and instruction in jazz music to public school children through specially prepared videos.
