Violeta was born in Klaipeda Lithuania. At the age of four she memorized the top Lithuanian hits and sang them to the neighbors, selling "tickets" (leaves) for 1 cent each for her concert. Violeta was going to use the proceeds to buy a baby brother. Her parents told her that a baby brother was much too expensive and bought her a CD player instead.
Violeta reached the shores of the United States on March 25, 2001. With her, Violeta brought a new sound for a new age. Violeta writes her own music, writes her own lyrics (in both Lithuanian and English), and then sings her songs with such a powerful, emotional and captivating voice, that it actually makes a person "feel good to cry". Her songs have been described as ABBA, and Enya meet with Celine Dion and Sarah Brightman. Her lyrics are in the genre of the great poets of yesteryear, where "this home still lives, you are its breath" (Come Home), and "because we are forever since you came" (We are Together), are just two examples of the romanticism of her ballads. Her music is different. Her songs, sometimes spanning more than three octaves, forever etch themselves not only in one's mind, but deeply in one's soul. Where else can you listen to a "lonely stone" lying on the side of the road, pleading with passersby, to stop, if only for a few seconds, to hear its story? Sagas of love, happiness, sorrow, family, friends and life and death are all part of Violeta's gift to us. Some of Violetaâs songs have been composed for the big screen. âThe Priceâ is the theme song for the full-length movie âThe Priceâ, in which Violeta starred. âThe Priceâ was released in October, 2008. Six more of Violetaâs songs were in âThe Priceâ, including âWe are Togetherâ and âI am Born Freeâ. âLet Me Touch Youâ, âSee Through My Eyesâ and âLight in the Darkâ are being considered for the movie âVisionâ, based upon a true story about a blind football hero, scheduled for production in the fall of 2009. âBrothers of Bloodâ was written for the screenplay âDead by Fridayâ. âPocket Angel was written for the Movie âPocket Angelâ, to be released in 2008. âI am Like Youâ is a song under consideration for a new teen series, âG.L.A.M.â, presently in production in Hollywood.
