Original Americana & organic roots rock from the Bluegrass, featuring strong, literate songs, diverse instrumentation ranging from orchestral backwoods whispers to full-on rock, and the singular voice of songwriter Abby Lane. Suitable for any weather.
13 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Americana, ROCK: Roots Rock
Details:
"Just when The Rainjunkies reel you in with their refreshingly sparse arrangements, you're treated to a diverse batch of layered string work, including mandolin hooks and delightfully gritty guitar solos. Think Julie Miller or Rickie Lee Jones-meets-Neil Young during those glorious Crazy Horse years." - Anne Deck, producer-host, "Girls' Night Out," WUKY-FM Lexington, KY
Recorded over several months by Jerome Gallt at his studio Alien Gnome Sound, the Rainjunkies' debut full-length album "Reach for the Water" features thirteen original songs full of powerful storytelling, literate imagery and diverse instrumentation that ranges from orchestral backwoods whispers to full-on rock.
The Rainjunkies got their start in the spring of 1998, when singer-songwriter Abby Lane and lead guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Bryan Klausing wrote their first song together on the front porch of a college party, hiding from the noise and lightning on a rainy night. They've been playing together ever since, joined by a sometimes revolving and always evolving cast of characters. Cellist-bassist Ben Sollee and drummer Aaron Klausing are the other fulltime members.
