Details:
"We want to play music that people can relate to."
"We want our song to get stuck in your head."
"We want you to have a good time watching us play."
"We dont want to sound just like everyone else."
"We want to play hard, and play loud."
These phrases are the driving force behind the creativity of Names Of The Innocent, a new rock band from Arizona. With members from Prescott and Mesa, all four members bring a unique talent and taste, which create a powerful combined sound. Each member has been in many different bands in the past, yet each one agrees that this one is the most special. Everything just fits together perfectly.
Names Of The Innocent was formed in August 2003 by Jeremy Betts. Jeremy (vocals, guitar) had moved back to Arizona from New York, and was eager to get a new band together. He met Jesse (drums) and Steve (bass) Moser, who have been playing together their whole lives, and started writing songs with them. Jeremy contacted an old friend, Ben Hall, that he had played with in a past band, and asked him to sit in with them to try out the new material. Soon after, Ben Hall (guitar, vocals) was permanently added to the mix. After that, everything just fit together perfectly. Anyone who has listened to their debut album agrees that it has a great sound and feel. Their shows are equally as energetic and fun.
Who do they sound like? Like all new bands, they are asked that very question all the time. The truth is, it's hard to describe. All they can do is list their influences, and let the listener make their own comparisons. Their influences are (in no particular order): The Smashing Pumpkins, Dave Matthews Band, Jimmy Eat World, The Who, Our Lady Peace, Better Than Ezra, Sleater-Kinney, Van Halen, Metallica, Elliott Smith, Radio Head, The Beatles, and Led Zeppelin.
Names Of The Innocent has started playing in the Arizona area in festivals and small clubs. As word of the band has grown, these venues are no longer large enough to hold the crowds at times. This makes the band feel good, and makes them play louder, harder, and with more feeling each time. Perhaps someday soon, you'll catch them live too.
