Details:
Return to Sender is a three piece indie rock band out of Provo, UT.
Chad Reynolds-Guitars, Vocals
Kyler Fillerup-Bass, backup Vocals
Scott Miller-Drums

Return to Sender is a phrase that evokes several images: Angst of the unrequited, anger at presumption, even self-deprecation via irony. The music that this three-piece from Provo, Utah plays is all of these; Shades of the best of British indie/alt-rock, infused with a small-town attitude.

This trio of vocals/guitar, bass and drums play effortlessly in an emotional dynamic that is moving, moody, and capable of a sharp left turn when least expected. They do all of this in the course of a musical vision that demands the listener to engage the sound and the deal. There's poetry here, and musical changes to surprise any true musician or lover of rock. This is rock music as an honest expression, when no other words or actions will suffice.

Their introspective maturity is fully realized in songs like "Cops and Sirens," where Chad desperately cries, "Hey! I better run, run, run!" as the guitars morph in a shamans dance of fire ... Their versatility on full display in "Books for Dummies," with its unexpected brushwork, otherworldly bass hits and beautiful, layered vocals. The radio-friendly "We Found Something New" is a rock workout about emptiness, confusion, and paying for what you find. The band plays with a focused intensity, like their last breath depends on it. "I've Been" brings things down to an almost soul level in a plea for emotional opening and vulnerability, the vocals tugging at the gut.

In the touchstone piece "Gattaca," we find the band moving into a dance of two souls reaching for meaning, love, understanding, sex ... searching for this meaning in the confusion of a torn, alien relationship and world.

The record continues with the metaphoric "20 Foot Fence," rocking with the statement "I see your face, I hear your voice, I feel you here ... but you're not really there ... you're not really there." This beautiful confusion continues with the world-weary "Is This Where It Ends?"

"Iris Falling in the Paint" is a beautiful acoustic number, employing a poet's ironic language to freeze a moment of meaning in a passing romance. Here we find Reynolds' in a songwriter's most vulnerable, naked moment ... alone with a guitar and a solo vocal.

The record ends the same way it begins, with a high energy work out for all: raw, rowdy, and full of attitude towards the ever changing status quo that attempts to define each new generation and conform it ...

This ambitious debut dares to ask questions, offers few answers and acknowledges the paradoxes in between. It shows a band that has created a modern music palette that walks to the edge with a coolness of psyche, frenzied alt/rock guitar, merciless bottom end groove and drums from the heart of a devils symphony, leaving you the same way they came ... inside out.
