After abandoning a promising academic future in Winnipeg to rock out in New York City instead, Wendy Ip released two albums and had a helluva lot of fun. In a nutshell, she toured the US and UK, was featured on VH1 ("My Coolest Years: The Bad Girls") and piqued the interest of Gene Simmons with her songwriting.

In July 2008, Gene Simmons' daughter Sophie sang Wendy's "Take Me Away" on A&E's Simmons Family Jewels and the performance garnered an overwhelmingly positive reaction. An official release of Sophie performing Wendy's material is in the works.

In the meantime, Wendy has been playing piano and singing backup for Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, the legendary Ronnie Spector (of The Ronettes). Most recently, Ronnie and her band completed a UK tour in September 2008.

This EP (facetiously titled "The Ip EP" for all the times Wendy's last name was called LP) follows a mini hiatus from songwriting as Wendy spread herself thin - living it up in NYC and, well, also MAKING a living in NYC. This third version of "Just Wendy" results not from Wendy's own perfectionism, but, rather, repeated requests from industry players to hear the song with different production. A couple of other new versions of old tunes appear, which is the reason Wendy has labeled this album an EP - only 8 new songs never before released.

Included in the remakes is the new version of "Take Me Away" which made its original debut on Wendy's last album, "A Different Kind of Life".

Please enjoy this teaser, as Wendy promises a quick follow up in 2009 with a plethora of new material. Wendy will be making life changes galore in January 2009, and before you get used to writing "2009" on your cheques, Wendy's 4th album will be here on CDbaby. (Who writes cheques anymore?!)
