Maruja Muci was born in Caracas, and it is this city which inspires the title of her first commercial release, "dreaming in caracas". An album that is full of beautiful songs in English, Spanish and Portuguese arranged in the best jazz-bossa-lounge style. The playing and production find the best of both the contemporary and the classic and create an eclectic and sultry style which is all her own.

SONY-BMG is in charge of promoting and distributing this record in Venezuela, Colombia and Ecuador. The General Production was managed by Maruja Muci, with collaboration from two exceptional Venezuelan musicians: José Manuel Pinto and Gonzalo Micó. Many other talented musicians also participated in this production such as Percussionist Joel "Pibo" Márquez, Theorbist Rubén Riera, Adrian Holtz who is winner of two ASCAP awards and also two BOSTON MUSIC awards, Moby's "Hotel" musician Kurt Uenala and many others (see credits on www.marujamuci.com)

"Hair", the musical, opened in Caracas in 1983, with Maruja starring as first ballerina and singer; from there she moved on to TV commercials where her voice and image were used for advertising campaigns such as "Pepsi" and "Alliance for a Drug free Venezuela", among others.

In 1987 she obtained a Law Degree. It was not until 1993 that she returned to singing with the leading role of "Doña Virtudes" in the Spanish Zarzuela "La Gran Vía" After that she undertook classical singing lessons with her teacher, Florentina Adam, she has continued these studies ever since.

In the summer of 2002, while in New York, she recorded the voice for José Luis Pardo's single "Mala Idea". José Luis is the guitarist and lyricist in the Grammy nominated Venezuelan band "Los Amigos Invisibles". This song would later become a hit in the United Kingdom as the re-mix version by the "Pound Boys" under the "Look At You Records" label.

Listening to Maruja's songs is listening to a clean, velvety and unaffected voice that wraps itself around the lyrics, it is a voice that tells stories while it sings and brings with it a sense of intimacy between the listener and the artist as if she is singing to you and you alone.

Maruja Lander de Muci nació en Caracas y es precisamente ésta la que inspiró el título de su primer trabajo comercial, "dreaming in caracas".
No se trata de una producción de temas caraqueños como su título pudiera sugerir sino más bien una compilación de temas propios y universales en Español, Inglés y Portugués. Conceptualmente posee elementos muy refinados del jazz, y bossa nova sin escapar del world music y la clásica frescura del incipiente lounge music.

SONY-BMG es la encargada de la distribución y promoción de éste trabajo para Venezuela, Colombia y Ecuador. La producción general fue realizada por Maruja Muci y para eso contó con la colaboración de dos músicos arreglistas venezolanos excepcionales como lo son José Manuel Pinto y Gonzalo Micó, así como una pléyade de músicos que hicieron posible este trabajo. En la década de los 80 se estrena en Caracas la pieza musical "Hair" donde Maruja participa como primera bailarina y cantante; de ahí siguieron comerciales para la TV en los que su voz e imagen fueron utilizadas para campañas publicitarias, como "Pepsi" y "Alianza para una Venezuela sin Drogas" entre otras.

Es abogado egresada de la Universidad Católica Andrés Bello y no fue sino hasta el año 93 cuando retoma el canto con el papel principal de "Doña Virtudes" en la Zarzuela "La Gran Vía" en el Teatro Teresa Carreño, a partir de entonces comenzó los estudios de canto clásico con su Maestra Florentina Adam los cuales mantiene rigurosamente hasta hoy.

En verano de 2002 en Nueva York grabó la voz para el sencillo"Mala Idea" de José Luis Pardo, guitarrista de la reconocida banda venezolana nominada a los premios Grammy "Los Amigos Invisibles", que luego se convertiría en hit en el Reino Unido en versión re-mix de "Los Pound Boys" bajo el sello disquero "Look At You Records".

Escuchar cantar a Maruja Muci es escuchar una voz clara, limpia, una voz natural sin afectaciones que realza las letras de los compositores, es una voz que cuenta historias cuando canta creando una sensación de intimidad entre la artista y su público.
