The new album, Long Way From The Start, is the next stop on Russell's personal songwriting journey that has taken him from the Ozark Mountains in NW Arkansas to modern day Nashville to now crossing the country performing.
The songs are guided by skilled musicians through many influences and genres. Featuring some of Nashville's top underground musicians. Including: Ballhog! Old Union and members of the Guy Smiley Blues Exchange.
Music Row Magazine's Robert K. Oermann describes the music as "a fusion of folk, jazz and pop... very, very intriguing."
Russell won a Starvy nomination in 2003, an award Sensored magazine gives to honor and encourage "fearless creativity." He also received his first song cut on Daybreak's First Light, one of CMT's top ten bluegrass records of 2002.
