Details:
Inspired by Van Halen's classic "Hot For Teacher", Olney, IL native Brent Rubsam first picked up a guitar at the age of seven, and he hasn't put it down since. Through his teen years and early twenties he has played and sang in a multitude of different cover bands playing mainly straight rock, metal, and everything else the crowd wants to hear. One of Brent's main influences is the legendary Stevie Ray Vaughan. Since the day he first heard Stevie Ray's playing, Brent has been influenced and inspired to develop his own bluesy & aggressive approach to the guitar. Other influences include Warren Haynes, Jimi Hendrix, Buddy Guy, Gary Moore, Albert King, and many others.
Currently Brent keeps busy as the weekday morning DJ on 103.5 The Eagle in Newton, IL and by teaching close to 40 guitar students a week between his home and Olney Central College in Olney, IL. Within the past several years Brent has also spent time teaching in Effingham, IL at both House of Guitars and Poss Music. In addition he also plays solo acoustic gigs, and regionally all over the area with his 3 piece blues/rock band "Brent Rubsam Project" featuring Brent on guitar and vocals, Kenny Skaggs on drums & vocals, and Kory Cornwell on bass & vocals. BRP has recently opened up shows for Bad Company former lead singer Brian Howe, Dr. Hook, the Little River Band, Molly Hatchet & Great white and are currently sponsored by Budweiser True Music.
