Acoustic pop/rock. Go to the way-back machine & pull out Chrissie Hynde (The Pretenders) & The Wilson sisters (Heart), then cross with Sheryl Crow & the killer male voice that backs her & you've got it: big-melody rock-n-roll for the masses.

ROCK: Acoustic, POP: Today's Top 40

Details:
One listen to Ruby Red's Out There (Red Bird Records) and you'll quickly hear what happens when an acoustic trickster meets five hard rockers: Big melody hooks with a driving low end. Fronted by songwriter Robin Brantley, an acoustic rockstress with a mesmerizing voice and a guitar-slinger's swagger, and backed by powerhouse players Dave Brantley, Chad "The-mad-man-danger" Crabtree, Mark Horn, Brett Hobbs and Rich Cornelison, the band combines power-pop with hard rock to form unforgettable rock & roll songs.

Longtime couple and founding members Robin and Dave played their first duo show in Portland Oregon several years ago. The leap from duo to full band status began with the introduction to Vancouver keyboardist, Mark Horn. The three had indeed envisioned a harder rock sound for the project when an amazing coincidence laid the foundation for the thunderous rhythm section that would eventually evolve. A blind ad in a local paper seeking a bassist produces none other than Chad "Themadmandanger," Dave's former band mate from the Phoenix-based metal act, Rampian. Portland drummer Brett Hobbs answers the very same ad and joins the band shortly there after. "I'm a Les Paul Man" Rich Cornelison rounds out the line-up and within a few short months, the band releases Out There to rave local reviews.

"We wanted to blur the lines between styles," Robin recalls, "and I think we've done that here. There's everything from Latin infusion to a waltz but it still gets you in your gut, all of it- especially the straight-up rock songs."

Their high-energy stage show soon lands them a coveted opening slot for monster hit-makers Eddie Money and Eric Burdon. Aligning themselves with Los Angeles radio promoter Larry Weir of Heartland Entertainment, Ruby Red will also begin a massive National radio campaign in the summer of 2005. A regional tour is currently in the works and a video in pre-production (FanBoy Pictures).

With Out There, Ruby Red proves themselves more than ready to lure new fans into their world of cunning songs with solid backbone. As stated in Better Off To Roam, "On with the story, on with the show..."
