Ghoulish Glam Pop with a flair for the absurd. Art Bombz blends great grooves and intelligent lyrics with a B-52esque party sensibility.
11 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Glam, POP: New Wave
Details:
"Rumpus, ArtBombz, is reminiscent of the B52's in the early, fun, creative and funky years . The lyrics are politically and sexually charged. Through the compelling vocals the listener explores corporate America, love, sex and art as a reformation. The music ranges from incredible rock n roll guitar riffs to blues based rhythms. In total ArtBombz is a great CD you'll be singing along to before the end of each song."
Rumpus' Art Bombz CD is a distillation of sensibilities that goes almost anywhere in the rock genre. This band doesn't drown itself in it's own style, but moves fluidly between 3 different lead vocalists, while at the same time pushing the edge of theatricality with their music. Each song is well written, arranged, and packed with content.
"Mega Organism" is a post-apocalyptic romp, with orchestral timpany driving the groove.
"Tiny Girls" is naked female sarcasm with an irresistable musical hook.
"Salesman" is a soulfully rich anthem driven by keyboards.
And "Art Bombz", best lives up to the B-52 M.O., with dueling party vocals, shouting humorous philosophies, all oddly draped around a blues riff.
Rumpus is:
Steffon Moody- Lead vocals, guitar
Arlette Moody- Lead vocals, harmony, percussion
Greg Dember- Lead vocals, keyboards
Dodd Johnson- Drums
Al Ferguson- Lead guitar
Phil Carter- Bass
A weird note: Somehow, children really get into the music, and will be singing "Lesbian Man" in the aisle at your local grocer! So be careful when little Johnny is around.
