Details:
Sweet and introspective, Johanna Sarad is a thought provoking singer, songwriter, and performer who has
added a new edge to traditional folk music. She shows off her ability to create an intimate compilation of
songs about life, relationships, religion, and society in her debut album "Be Nice If You Did".
Growing up in a musical household, Johanna embraced singing when she was old enough to talk. By age ten she had acquired an active interest in the piano, and by the time she turned thirteen she discovered her true love was the guitar.
With influences that stretched from Joni Mitchell to Goldfinger, Johanna was quick to start creating original music by blending an interesting range of styles.
In 1996 Johanna was invited to play her first gig at a small downtown hang out as the opening act for local indy rock band, Quazi 3.
She continued on to perform numerous concerts including opening for Jesus Shack recording artist Plum, and playing the music festival Fem Fest alongside such artists as Melissa Panky, and The Paper Dolls.
Later Johanna followed her music career to northern California creating a fan base in the Sacramento and San Francisco areas.
In 2003 she was recognized by Electric Cowboy Records after hearing her demo of "Be Nice If You Did". The record label produced her first music video of the title track, along with Russell Chase of ARC Filmworks in Phoenix, Arizona.
Teaming up with producer Kellye White, Johanna has recorded her freshman effort at Electric Cowboy Studios in Bakersfield, California.
Johanna has recently moved to the Seattle area, and is currently playing various venues to eager, and receptive audiences.
