Acoustic Soul from the former frontman of The
Congregation
12 MP3 Songs
URBAN/R&B: Soul, FOLK: Folk Blues
Details:
Kevin Sandbloom has been songwriting and fronting bands in the
L.A. area for several years. His music is inspired by the classic
soul and r&b of the late 60's and early 70's but is by no means
limited to that genre. There are other influences working as well,
Blues, Rock, Reggae andHip-Hop being among them.
The later part of 2002 saw the release of the artist's first full-
length record, Blues For Bricktop, containing 12 songs all broken
down to the basic guitar and vocal elements with the occasional
instrumental and harmonic color. This format represents the songs'
more personal nature in a setting that leaves the listener with no
doubt that this is who Kevin Sandbloom is.
His music can also be heard on the Once In The Life soundtrack
which features songs from two different bands, The Congregation,
an eight-peice old-school band prominent on the L.A. scene through
the late nineties and Mockingbird, a smaller combo together for a
few years after that.
Kevin has also had the opportunity to write the title song for the
Robben Ford album "Supernatural".
Review from Pasadena Weekly Feb.13th 2003
written by Bliss-
Solo, the ex-Congregation frontman works moody acoustic turf reflecting
his R&B/rock influences;call it confessional soul-rock."Muddy Waters",
"Little Tighter" and the bluesy "Easier Now"(the album's highlight)
pulse with Sandbloom's romantic falsetto,but be forwarned:if you aren't
already feelin contemplative, you soon will - give 'em a chance and
these songs get under your skin.
