Details:
Store Bought Lies started out way back in the day. October 31, 1997 to be exact, but who's counting. PigBoy (Christopher Poole) started it all as a way to escape from the reality of the sullied upshot a private high school education infected him with each day. So it wasn't until PigBoy met the SubGenius Reverend Justin Sane (Justin Jones) at a Distorted Sound Sadists show, that they collaborated their musical talents into a more developed form of the band than its previous larval state.

They recorded a low-fi, low budget tape (yes, this was before the wonderful technology of "burning CD's") titled "FiLThy" (1997). They then pathetically attempted self-promotion and distribution of the recording in any way they could. Word got out and shows were set up. Most of the shows were VFW punk/hardcore shows, so you can guess how they went. A number of "musicians" and "talents" contributed or tried to contribute to the live format of the band. Some names include DJ SupaSpy on turntables and samples, Asian Porn Starr, the Anonymous Bassist, and of course, Lou the Frisbee Guy to name a few.

In late 1999, the band's first single for the full-length album was released. This track, titled "Good As Dead" (1999), was the source of several remixes by artist including KC Jackson and local dekonstructors of noize, Distorted Sound Sadists.

After a span of time with only two permanent members of the band, PigBoy met Plague (Jeffry Thompson), a drummer of 7 years who was new in town. PigBoy quickly set up a three-member configuration that turned out to be a major improvement to the band. No longer were they relying on a drum machine track to be their beat.

After the formation of the three-piece, "Music for Titty Bars" (2000) was released. This album is the first full-length Store Bought Lies recording since "FiLThy". For big fans of the band with every other incarnation of tapes and CDs already, this is a big waste of money. But for all of the people interested in the band that do not own all of their previous now out of print tapes, it is a great way to familiarize yourself with their material.
