The Gerard Schwarz commentaries in Eroica's Musically Speaking series are birthed in a lifetime of devoted study of the great masters of composition of classical music.

Maestro Schwarz is the Music Director of the Seattle Symphony,the New York Chamber Symphony,and Lincoln Center's Mostly Mozart Festival in New York City.

In addition, Maestro Schwarz holds the post oi Music Advisor to Tokyo Bunkamura's Orchard Hall in Japan.

Since beginning his conducting career in 1966, Maestro Schwarz has received more than ten Grammy Award nominations, two Record of the Year Awards, Musical America's 1994 Conductor of the Year Award, and a Mumms Ovation Award.

His numerous television credits include several appearances on the PBS "Live From Lincoln Center" series, a nationally telecast performance in France with the Orchestre Philharmoniqued, and regional performances including broadcasts of Musically Speaking performances.

Maestro Schwarz's recordings for the Delos, Nonesuch, Angel and RCA labels constitute an extensive discography.

Maestro Schwarz is a graduate of the The Julliard School. He has received many degrees and awards, including the 1989 Ditson Conductor's Award from Columbia University and an honorary doctorate from The Julliard School.
