(ID 562090)
A conglomerate of genres is what you find on Rachel Sedacca's debut album, Lucky Like Me. She's got a country voice, a band that can rock, the emotions of a blues player, and a knack for writing songs that tell stories in a very folk-like way.

9 MP3 Songs
COUNTRY: Bluegrass, FOLK: Modern Folk

Details:
Since her first performance, with two big brothers working spotlight from the stairway and an audience of Mom, Dad and the dog, Rachel Sedacca has built on a lifetime of dance, drama and music. Live Theatre roles in A Girl's Dormitory directed by Betty Bridges, Shakespeare's As You Like It, in the famous outdoors of the John Anson Ford Theatre in Hollywood and An Encino Community theatre production of Gypsy started a lifelong love of the stage.

A Crystal Gayle album was the first in a collection that developed Rachel's love for music. Singing along with Anne Murray and Linda Ronstadt in the car with Mom started building her vocal "chops" at a young age. Early influences of Motown and traditional country focused on the voice as an instrument. Despite years of chorus and dance troupe, it wasn't until she was gifted a steel string acoustic guitar in 1994 that Rachel even began to touch the power of her voice.

During college at Humboldt State University, holding her own with background/lead vocals for "Full Sun" the improvisational, electric rock band out of Arcata, started what grew into a career in music. Her musical education continued with the songs of Robert Hunter and the jack of all trades style of Bonnie Raitt. With her debut single "Days of '49", written in 1997, Rachel built on a diverse repertoire of her favorite songs and very own originals. "I feel like I've been raised by some of the best. They weren't easy on me, but I learned alot about musicianship and performing from veterans of acoustic music like Danny Wilson, Tom Corbett, Jonathan McEuen and Jimmy Adams. I try to make them proud!" she laughs.

"Lucky Like Me", Rachel Sedacca's debut album was released in the fall of 2001 and included a body of work reflecting her versatility and songwriting skill. Including a cover of her favorite Dylan tune, the album boasts eight of her originals and one by songstress cohort Lisbet Frey. Co-produced with Jonathan Raffetto and highlighting some of the most amazing talent of Ventura County, the album has gained attention locally, nationally and internationally with over 75 thousand plays on the internet's Mp3.com.

As her entity Road Home Productions, Rachel booked and managed a 2001 fall tour through California, Colorado and Minnesota as a solo act earning priceless experience in the business of music and promotion. Rachel's internet presence led to a two week tour of Japan, accompanied by the mandolin, guitar and vocals of Tom Corbett, as headlining act at the
Country Jamboree in the mountains of Gifu, north of Nagoya.

A four week California tour on her 35-foot 1971 GMC school bus prompted the re-naming of "Louise" to "Patience". There's a literal Pandora's Box of stories that she matter-of-factly weaves into her live appearances, always giving a little peek behind the music, bringing the audience into her comfortable living room at every show. Rachel Sedacca is always engaging and fun to be around, definitely an artist to watch. This Gypsy heart is out on the road every chance she gets, but always loves the Road Home.
