METAL: Progressive Metal, METAL: Heavy Metal

Details:
Heavy Metal. It began with bands as diverse as Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. As time has passed, great bands such as Judas Priest, Rush, Metallica, Queensryche, Alice In Chains, and Dream Theater have risen to the occasion, carrying the metal genre forward. Obviously, there were metal bands other than these that contributed to the entity that was heavy metal. And all of these bands had their own sound. We have more metal bands than ever now, but it is difficult to diffentiate one from the other. The backlash against the technical guitar wizardry of the 80s has now taken metal to the other extreme: downtuned muddy guitar strumming with little or no technique, and interchangeable lead singers.

The Senile 1 takes us back to bands that are metal, but sound like no other. Wrapped in this package of twisted metal fury, you will find classical guitar, keyboard, and psychedelic passages reminiscent of early 70s Pink Floyd. And the guitar solos range from tastefully placed tones to full-throttle mayhem ripped from the guts of the instrument. All parts are written, arranged, and performed by Ed Groves. The Senile 1 entered the Parkville Asylum to begin the recording of its second CD on May 6th.
