Notes: On this, her debut album, Shareefah has done a marvelous job of capturing the flavors of an array of musical styles, from extravagant Latin rhythms to hip contemporary Jazz and celestial New Age tracks. There is purity about this music with it's sweet melodies and smooth arrangements. It's exciting, yet mellow and peaceful; an extremely pleasurable listening experience.

Shareefah's musical journey began at age 10 when she had her first piano lesson. As an adult she studied organ, jazz piano and theory with Lucille Gaita and at Jazzmobile in Harlem, N.Y. Shareefah taught music for several years, served as an organist and choir director and was a regional organ festival finalist. She began composing in the late '70's and after a while realized that composing rather than performing was more her thing.

Her love of music began in early childhood while listening to her uncle's R & B collection and over the years she gained an appreciation for many genres which is reflected on this self produced CD. The album was produced on a Yamaha Clavinova digital piano. Shareefah says "I loved the entire process, even the challenges of production. This project was very special because my dear friend and musical mentor Lucille played the electric piano track on "Can't See Nothin' Wrong With That" and my son Salaam Shabazz of Eargasm Productions was my engineer."

Shareefah's goals are to continue producing quality recordings including albums completely dedicated to the Latin Jazz and New Age genres. She would also like to compose for TV and films.

Lucille Gaita received a Bachelor of Music degree from Berklee College of Music in Boston. She has accompanied the Crystals, Lou Christie, Mary Wells, Little Anthony, the Drifters and many other artists in the Tri-State area. She has also played in back up bands with entertainers such as Jack Jones and Bob Hope. Lucille has done original projects in and around New York City, performed as musical director and played in "the pit" for many theatre productions.
