Manic Rock - IF Elliot Smith and Fiona Apple gave birth to a child in 1978 and made him listen to the Pixies until he was seven.
14 MP3 Songs
POP: Power Pop, ROCK: Emo
Details:
I Sold Myself to Myself deals with idealism, despair, hope, loneliness, and acceptance that most things in life stay the same no matter how much they change. A questioning lyrical message is persistently masked by upbeat and often unorthodox chord progressions and harmonies, making for a positive tone that leaves the listener unsafe and non-complacent. Each soulful track experiences vibrant musical changes while maintaining continuity and pulse -- attention deficit disorder music that mocks itself for changing too frequently.
The album was recorded from July 2003 to November 2003 using an 8-track recorder. With the exception of the live drum tracks (recorded at Side Street Studios and later mixed to the 8-track) all parts were recorded and mixed down using the 8-track. All captured sounds on this album were recorded "as is".
Influences: Modest Mouse, Elliot Smith, Engine Down, John Frusciante, Nine Inch Nails
