A rocking two piece displays how intricate guitar lines and skittering drum beats can re-work and over-worked genre
3 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Modern Rock, ROCK: Math Rock
Details:
Everybody's Scared of Being Vulnerable is a great listen. By putting intricately arranged guitars through back flips with abrupt, drastic chord changes, themselves relentlessly marshaled by a skittering drum beat, the EP almost forces you to nod along -- and with vigor, too. What elevates these guys above bands with a similar sound is their willingness to experiment. Silent Tongue aren't above slipping a few unexpected sounds into the mix; they make liberal use of unexpected instrumentation, including occasional Spanish guitar. Everybody's Scared of Being Vulnerable proves that it's possible to freshen an overworked genre, catching listeners pleasantly off-guard in the process.
