Details:
Joseph Lee Smith, aka Joey Lee, aka Skinslaya of the legendary Soul Kid Klik was a pioneer with a musical vision during the classic era of Hip-Hop/ R&B. Asa singer and songwriter he has been an active member of New York City's underground Hip-Hop/R&B scene for the last decade. After contributing songs to several albums and singing background for many other artists, he was the first to claim the title as the "King of Ghetto Love!"

Hailing from Jamaica, Queens, at 30 years of age, he is young enough to be on the cutting edge of Hip-Hop/Soul, yet old enough to have witnessed the Jamaica "park jams", featuring deejays such as Infinty Machine, Cypher of Sound, and the Disco Twins. This rich experience has given Skinslaya his truly original and strongly unique flavor. He, along with groups like the Lost Boyz, is determined to bring about what he calls the New Jamaica Funk. Skinslaya may be described as the Nat "King" Cole of Hip-Hop Soul,, because of his smooth, personable style.

His talent for smooth vocals is perhaps equalled by his talent for unbelievably fat hooks and lyrics. He elaborates: "My music is both street and universal in appeal. Everybody can find something in my songs that relates to things that happen in their own lives..." And as for the overall vibe of his music... "Smooth and Jazzy, with a fat-ass beat!"
