WHY?...seriously speaking.
For all of my years playing music, Iâve had the
honor to play with wonderful talented musicians. When
they would take solos, quoting the melodies of my songs, I got the idea that it might be cool, to do a recording of great players playing new and exciting versions of some of these compositions. John McLane, (God bless him) humored me with this idea, and agreed to co-produce and play many of the instruments, especially on the backing tracks. Put it on during cocktails, dinner, or any time at all.

ENJOY, Danny Morgan

Sanibel Samba â the Songs of Danny Morgan
Artist - Danny Morgan with Very Special Guests

Need a vacation? Canât get away? Try this easy listening collection of Danny Morganâs tuneful odes to southwest Florida beach life. Itâs the next best thing to being there.

Morgan has entertained Florida vacationers from all over the world for decades with live shows and CDs of his own romantic, beach getaway-themed songs. This time out, however, Morgan offers up an all-instrumental collection of his melodies, supported by his inner circle of favorite musicians. And they are choice musicians, indeed.

Morgan has a musical ace-in-the-hole if ever there was one in Maestro John McLane, who provides alto sax and acoustic lead on some of the tracks. And, unless my eyes deceive me, that is McLane pictured on the CD sleeve behind those Ray Bans, and who, as âJohnny Duke,â takes a piano turn on two more Morgan songs. Come to think of it, Wayward Jensen, on steel pan, vibes and marimba, looks enough like McLane to be his long lost twin brother.

Also among the VIP guests is harmonica virtuoso Bob âSugarlipsâ Lotz on the romantic âSaltwater Kisses.â âPaul Rozmusâ (of the band Renata) treats Morganâs âOh Captivaâ to a lively jig treatment on flute. Bob Mosci, the toast of NYC piano bar crooners, contributes piano beautifully on the lovely âCaptiva Moon.â The athletic âRunning on the Beachâ is transformed with Marc Vee on classical guitar. On âSanibel Sunsetâ, Vee picks up his electric guitar. Mark Dupuy contributes on both steel pan and flugelhorn. Where does Morgan find these guys?

For Morgan fans and anyone else who is tired of not being on Sanibel Beach. This CD, like all of his CDs, will make you wish you were there.

Prof. Cliff Adams,
University of Cincinnati music department

HERE'S A LITTLE BACKGROUND IN THE FEATURED PLAYERS:

John Grammy McLane: Danny recently put out the call for all traveling vagabond musicians to meet for a recording project. John was first in line. He got free pizza for putting in extra notes during his performances, hence, âMillion-Note-McLaneâ lived up to his name.

Paul Rozmus: flute. With his talented wife / violinist Renata, Paul immigrated from Poland to the U.S. during the height of the cold war. His charting smooth jazz cd "On the Funky Side" still makes people dance at the Jacaranda.

Marc Vee: classical guitar & jazz electric: Marc's an accomplished musician who grew up in Miami and has performed with many jazz greats. He literally ran down the beach while playing guitar on "Running on the Beach" That's what helps to infuse it with such a wonderful live energy.

Mark Dupuy: steel pan and flugelhorn: Mark brings his soul and soka background into play here. As possibly the biggest Rodney Dangerfield fan ever, we ran through hours of recording while he cracked Rodney jokes between every note.

Bob Lotz: harmonica. Playing music with Danny for thirty-tree years, Bob has on many occasions has had to call upon his other profession : he's a top criminal defense attorney. For such a legal bulldog, he sure laid down some sweet harp on "Saltwater Kisses".

Johnny Duke: piano: He is known as the Crowned Prince of Lounge Musicians in his hometown of Hoboken, New Jersey. Johnny minced no words letting us know how lucky we were to have him appear on this cd.

Bob Mosci: piano. As a young Johnny Duke wanna-be (and what pianist in New York isn't?) , Bob carved his own niche as a piano / vocalist in Manhattan. Currently at The Water Club six days a week. He is the best.

Wayward Jensen: steel pan, vibes & marimba: After his early days of drinking unfiltered pond water, the other more famous Jensen brothers and sister disavowed knowledge of his
existence. He learned steel pan while incarcerated in the Captiva Home for the Terminally Underprivileged.

Danny Morgan: classical guitar. In order to calm this somewhat hyper personality down, we actually duct taped him to a chair and took his cell phone away to get this great performance on the title track "Sanibel Samba".
