"Nude" is the fourth release from Sleeping Dogs Lie. This homemade lofi rock CD has a cool laid back vibe with a variety of acoustic, electric and experimental sounding songs that continue in the SDL tradition of unique and interesting chord arrangements and wide ranging lyrical subject matter. Nude's subject matter is more introspective than the previous Sleeping Dogs LIe cds.
Listen to "Burl Ives Died" or "Lonesome Jack" for that really stripped lofi... or try "Chinchilla Doldrums" or "The Rain Daisies" for a more creative ambient feel or go with "Weird About Steve" for something more rock...
The painting on the cd is from a true story... my friend was with her mother-in-law on Jupiter Beach one afternoon and could not find an open restroom... No one was around, so mother-in-law just drops her pants and craps on the pristine white beach sand. My friend stood there stunned and red-faced. Little did she realize that it would be the inspiration for Nude.
Nude has a bit of a Lou Reed vocal feel, Beck oddity, Nirvana musicality, Brian Eno silence, David Bowie separation, Primus lyricalness with a Violent Femmes feel?
The 5th cd from Sleeping Dogs Lie "Head first down the stairs" is due to be released in the fall of '05... There are 22 new songs and 13 guest musicians sitting in on this recording. For more info on the new cd and the artist, go to the website: www.sleepingdogslie.com...
