Erin McGrew plans a series of twelve albums for her lifeâs work, each named after a birthstone, each containing twelve songs united by the correlating month as a theme. The quirky Dallasite began this process in a quirky way, when in 2002 she won enough on the game show JEOPARDY! to produce the first album, GARNET. The only musician on the entire album, Erin wove her clear voice with one Yamaha keyboard, the âcrayon boxâ with which she colored her twelve songs with a myriad of sounds. For the sophomore effort, AMETHYST, Erin played another Yamaha keyboard and a harpsichord while her high school friend, producer Scott Hamilton, supplied the other live instruments.
