15 MP3 Songs
FOLK: Gentle, NEW AGE: Environmental

Details:
Music to sit down with in a quite place with headphones on and take in the relaxing tones of the acoustic guitar and escape the demands of life for awhile. "Northwest" songs are relaxing, soothing , melodic, uncluttered and simple with a "cinematic" feel inspired by the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
All songs written and performed by fingerstyle guitarist Steve Massey and played on a Taylor 414 Koa Guitar recorded live to tape using a Neumann KM184 Microphone along with Rode NT1.
Northwest explores the moods and feel of the Northwest using the guitar to interpret the sounds and sights of nature's beauty.
"Siskiyou Reflections" sets a mood of gentle high peaks of the Siskiyou mountains and the light reflections from both the sun and moon on snowy peaks.
"Crooked River Railroad" captures the sound and feel of a train moving through the beautiful countryside with a more uptempo country feel. "The Lighthouse" provides a panoramic view of the Coquille River Light house in Bandon and the simple restful beauty of light overlooking a beautiful and peaceful sea.
"Timberline moves through peaceful moods and provides the listener with a moving experience of seeing trees move by on a slow drive through the country. You are again taken on a quite, peaceful ride through a simple, uncluttered quiet time in the country.
Highway 62 takes you on a slow easy ride through open land to the graceful Crater Lake region.

"Northwest" is a great CD to fall asleep to at night, providing a cinematic, scenic drive on some of the most beautiful back roads in America. A great way to escape the loud, demanding and stressful time of the day and slow down with nature's moods and sounds as interpreted on the steel string guitar.

Bio:

Steve Massey was born in China Lake, California and grew up in the Los Angeles area with a move to the San Francisco Bay Area during high school days.
He started playing guitar at age 7 taking guitar lessons for about a year but then began to be self taught.
Later in life Steve had the privilege of studying music composition and guitar theory privately for four years with Jai Josefs (author of book "Writing Music for Hit Songs") and songwriting with Steve Seskin (songwriter of hits by Neal Mccoy, Tim McGraw, John Michael Montgomery, Alabama and others). Steve will be studying fingerstyle guitar with Alex De Grassi (Grammy nominated fingerstyle guitarist) the summer of 2004.
Steve has had songs on rotation on FM radio nationally, with songs used in corporate videos and as background tracks on cable TV.
He has performed in various venues in the Los Angeles area as well as SanFranciso Bay area, Nashville, TN and Oregon. In past years Steve has been an active member of LASS, NSAI, NCSA and NAS songwriter organizations.
In the 90's Steve had a light pop, jazz band in the Los Angeles area that played various cafes and clubs in the Southern California area.
In 1989 Steve and his family moved to southern Oregon where the natural beauty of the area has inspired most of his new fingerstyle compositions as heard on both "Northwest" CD released in 2004 on Hill View Music and "Wood" CD released also on Hill View in 2003. Steve lives with his wife and daughter in Southern Oregon now and performs in the Northwest area.
