âThe Blinky Moon Boysâ is a name that people tend to remember. The name actually comes from a joke that was told about the goings on at a âBlinky Moon Tourist Courtâ in Williamsburg, Kentucky. Such an unusual name is fitting for a group of uncommon musicians. The Blinky Moon Boys actually live in Tennessee, Georgia and Virginia; geography dictates that they keep their performances to a minimum, but thatâs one thing that keeps the music so refreshing. Each bandmember has played with other hometown bands over the years, but the real magic starts when they perform together. The glue that holds the Blinkey Moon Boys together is their shared vision and deep appreciation for the first generation bluegrass musicians. You can hear the driving banjo style of Earl Scruggs, the smooth brand of Kentucky/Tennessee fidling, and the punctuated mandolin style of Monroe. Youâll also hear the soulful mountain singing of the Stanleys and a âbounceâ reminiscent of Jimmy Martin. Jeff and Darin have always been the vocal fuel of the band and they share the same zeal for finding obscure bluegrass numbers. Tom and Lynn add instrumental prowess and Billâs rock solid timing holds it all together.
