Details:
Timeless standardsâ¦sophisticated styleâ¦seductive charm. A gifted singer who will satisfy your inner passions each time you hear his magic. This is how Jim Altamore is often described.

Jim Altamore is a versatile jazz singer of popular standards from what is known today as the Great American Songbook. License to Swing is the name of Jimâs debut cd. A collection of American standards set to a swing tempo. Jim pays a heartfelt thanks to some of his predecessors like Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and Bobby Darin. He stays true to their fashion and keeps the finger snapping, swing feel in songs like âLearninâ The Bluesâ, âRoute 66â and âBeyond The Seaâ. Accompanied by some the best musicianâs around, License to Swing is part of Jimâs storyâ¦..part of his life!!! â DJ Jim Stone, Host of the radio showâ¦BIG BAND SWING

Jim Altamore's sound is smooth, rich and sophisticated with a classic charm. License to Swing was produced by Grammy
Award winning producer Jack Kreisberg. Jim is backed by some of the best musicians around including Rio Clemente, Steve Johns, Eric Johnson, Wayne Batchelor, Bill Easley, and Chembro Wilson.

DJ Chris Neilsen NPR radio says, âCan't tell you how much I enjoyed this CD. Great Voice, great arrangements, great backing musicians, and Jim has a great voice. Only listen to "Learnin' The Blues" to be wrapped up in his sound. Great!!! (The word fits it all)â

John Russell host of Midwest Ballroom/WDCB, Dundee, IL âI like new crisp versions of standards and will be sure to play more cuts off of it.â

Currently Jimâs version of âFly Me To The Moonâ is being featured in Chazz Palminteriâs Broadway play A Bronx Tale.

A graduate of Adelphi University, Jim grew up during a time of transition......the music world was changing with the arrival of the Beatles. However, Jimâs family always appreciated the true American music of jazz and swing. At a young age Jimâs dad kept him in touch with the great singers of his era like Sinatra, Ella and Bennett. Jimâs indoctrination in the world of music started on the right pathâ¦.and it never changed!

When Jim was 10 years old his father introduced him to the music of Count Basie. Jim immediately locked on to the infectious tempos of the âswinginâestâ band of all time. Jim incorporates elements of both Sinatra and Basie in his singing style. He swings his face off but does it in a manner that is never over the top. This technique that has earned Jim the nicknames âMr. Smoothâ and âThe Icemanâ, from fellow musicians. Jim lives by the quote âToo much Basie? Thereâs no such thing!â

When all is said and done, what matters most to Jim is the music he delivers to his audience. He often says, âitâs not as much about me as it is about the music and reaching out to my audience.â

Jim has performed several times at the world famous Supper Club in NYC, and one of the highlights of Jimâs career was having the honor to speak and perform at a 3 day conference on Frank Sinatra held at Hofstra University. He has also sung at a number of venues at the personal request of actor Chazz Palminteri.
