The Soundmen, a five-piece ensemble out of Atlanta, GA,have quickly become one of the most unique and exciting acts on the live music scene. Melding styles as diverse as acid jazz, latin percussion, back-porch blues, and soaring free improvisation,the band creates a distinctive, groove-infected sound that can't help but put a smile on your face and get your feet flying. A wide range of wellplaced covers, from the Allman Brothers and Led Zeppelin to John Zorn, Miles Davis, and Frank Zappa interlocks perfectly with the band's unique original compositions. The Soundmen have already started to attract considerable attention as their touring schedule continues to grow, and regularly play many of the best clubs in the region. As winners of Clear Channel's "Next Level" contest, which was decided by fan voting, as well as a panel of industry professionals, they received a prestigious slot at the country's largest 3-day music festival, Atlanta's Music Midtown. The band also consistently performs live sets on Atlanta radio station Z93's weekly live radio program, "The Dunhams". The band has shared the stage, as well as taken part in many wonderful collaborations with, some of the finest musicians around, including Bob Weir & Ratdog, Al Schnier & Vinnie Amico of moe., Gov't Mule, Perpetual Groove, Particle, MOFRO, Col. Bruce Hampton, Jeff Sipe & the Apartment Projects,Widespread Panic's JoJo Hermann, the North Mississippi All-Stars, Gordon Stone, Moonshine Still, and many others. The band's first studio effort, "Pleasure in the Mess", recorded at Atlanta's famed TreeSound Studios, and was mastered by rodney mills.
