Steve Lucas is an international recording and touring musician/bassist/producer who has just released his 2nd CD titled "Gamma Jazz", which explores the modern styles of drum 'n bass, trip hop and jungle. Steve Lucas' bass playing and complicated beat programming propel his ten original jazz-fusion compositions which also feature blistering guest jazz musicians. Other current projects include his 3rd North American tour with famed Canadian musical artist, Bruce Cockburn, showing Steve's diverse talent in various musical styles, as well as an instructional DVD of modern bass techniques. Steve's unique bass style has won him accolades among famous musicians as well as audiences in Europe, North America and the Orient, and been featured in the New York Times and Bass Frontiers magazine. Steve's formative years as a musician were spent analyzing and practicing the music of artists such as Weather Report, Jaco Pastorius, John Coltrane and Earth Wind & Fire. Steve's early fusion jazz band won the Hennessey Cognac/Downbeat Jazz competition, Eastern Division. He is sought after by the highest quality musicians of all styles, everything from the celtic music of platinum recording artist Loreena McKennitt to touring China last year with the most celebrated Canadian Chinese Ensemble headed by Erhu prodigy George Gao and composer Donald Quan. As a composer/producer, Steve's cutting edge techno tracks have also been featured on several sample cd's which are sought after in the film and television postproduction industry. In addition to recording and touring, Steve has played on The David Letterman Show, the Juno Awards, the Aboriginal Awards, numerous films and television shows such as "The Relic Hunter", Atom Egoyan's "Babyface" and has written the theme music for Canadian television shows "Shout" on the Pride Network and "The Score" on the Sports Network. Sit back and listen to the bass style that Canadian Musician Magazine hounded Steve to teach others in his published articles of advanced bass technique.
