Description:

(ID 590269)
Born and bred from the harsh terrain of North Dakota, Stonecreep is what one might describe as melodic death metal in the vein of In Flames, At the Gates, Soilwork, ETC... But with a lot of Slayer, Pantera, Testament, and Old Metallica influence.

10 MP3 Songs
METAL: Death Metal, METAL: Thrash/Speed Metal

Details:
Born and bred in the North Dakota heartlands, summer of 1999, Stonecreep began as a collaboration between founding members Mike Nordick (guitar, most humble Weblord) and Aaron Mullaney (guitar, horror movie aficionado). Their combined sound was deeply rooted in 'The Gathering' era Testament and the eternal thrash of Slayer. Countless songs were written, but only a few remain (i.e. Tears of Blood, The Infection, Down to One, and God's Horror). After months of jamming in a rented airplane hanger loft, things began to wind down, and Aaron eventually moved away to Portland, OR to pursue his dream of becoming a cult horror movie director. Stonecreep was laid to rest, but not quite forgotten.
The summer of 2001, two years of school behind him, and Aaron began to feel the itch to rock once again. He had been keeping in close contact with some old friends back in Fargo, ND, Matt Litton (guitar hero and metal god) and Mike 'tricky sticks' Townsend (drums, master of his domain) and ideas began to form. The idea: Mike and Matt should leave the bitter winters and windy summers of North Dakota and move to Portland, OR, joining forces with Aaron. The plan: resurrect Stonecreep. The Agenda: conquer the World!!! After months of crucial planning, Mike and Matt were on Aaron's doorstep, hungry to rock.

After Mike and Matt moved to the P-Town area in the summer of 2001, a rigorous practice schedule was implemented. With certain complications emerging as time flew by, Stonecreep realized that they had left behind thier shredding companion of old Andy Mercil (an odd character with hordes of unsung talent). After hours of negotiating andy finally could resist no longer and gave in.

With the final piece to the puzzle in place, the Stonecreep sound began to emerge, better and more brutal then ever. At first listen, they appear to be the bastard child of Pantera's riffing crunch and In Flames' melodic death metal. But their sounds goes much deeper and draws upon a variety of influences, including Swedish thrashers At the Gates, Opeth, and Entombed, death metal titans Six Feet Under, modern metal masters Machine Head, God Forbid, and Lamb of God, and finally, the undisputed kings of all that is Metal: SLAYER!!!

With hours of rehearsal under their belts, hundreds of shows performed thus far, and gallons of whiskey (Lord Calvert) and beer (PBR) consumed, the beast that is Stonecreep is ready to assault the masses.

The reader be warned: you may experience the need to pound your fist in the air, and headbang like it's 1986!!! Without a doubt, Stonecreep will deliver the make.

Cheers,
Stonecreep
