âWhen We Clicked on the Internetâ by John Oakes and The Groomsmen
- âA rockin' and kooky tune with a Latin twist that embodies the joy of finding love on the Internet. A song for any couples who met online.â
When John Oakes, a drummer and singer from New Jersey, was asked what he wanted to do for his bachelor party, his answer was simple ââLetâs hit the studio and write a song.â The Groomsmen, including his best man, father and musician Robert Oakes, Sr. (age 75), guitarists Eric Seiz and Jason Loughlin, bassist Jon Radwan, Laszlo Moharita, and John's ten-year-old nephew JP Kelly, gathered at Future Starz studio in Fairfield, NJ five days before Johnâs wedding. The group spent the afternoon creating the song that they would play at the reception titled, âWhen We Clicked on the Internetâ.
The couple, Cassie and John Oakes, met on the dating Web site Yahoo Personals in 2006. After hitting it off by e-mail for several days, the pair decided to meet in person. Their first date was a movie: Borat - a true test of compatibility - and the rest was history. They set the date for the fall of 2008!
âWhen We Clicked on the Internetâ premiered during the September reception at Dave and Busters in West Nyack, NY after the ceremony at St. Francis Church in Hoboken, NJ. After the final chord rang out, The Groomsmen were showered with applause and received a standing ovation. The guests and staff at the wedding asked, âWhere can we get a copy of that song?â
The Groomsmen then decided to go into the studio and lay down the tracks. They recorded the song in November 2008 at Clearcut Recording in Garfield, NJ. The song was engineered and mastered by Max Caselnova.
Their song is now available for any other happy couples who met on the Internet!
Very nice!!
