Singer Tim Crane, A.K.A. T Bird, took just one year to assemble the band in Austin, where heâd heard the groove of real music issuing forth on Sixth Street. He brought together lead, rhythm and bass guitars; trombone and tenor and baritone saxophones; percussion; and a trio of backup singers â eleven members in all, a canvas for his chunky, soulful originals. In the year since, T Bird and the Breaks has taken the Austin music scene by storm: headlining at five of the cityâs best-known venues including The Continental Club, placing second in the Best New Band category at the 2008 Austin Music Awards, and becoming the second-highest vote-getter and a finalist in the 2008 Austin City Limits âThe Sound and the Juryâ competition.
