âA born entertainerâ, thatâs what anyone who has ever met Les Gimix would say about him. Born March 3rd 1981 a Bay Area native and raised everywhere from NY to Venice beach California, Les has been surrounded by music and the entertainment industry almost his entire life. Influenced by his cousins at age 8, Les began to rap after he fell in love with Hip Hop. Initially it was all about the break. At the age of 6 Les was a regular on the world famous Venice beach break dancing and earning money to help pay the bills. He began to dabble with rhyming before he had even fully grasped the concept of what a rap was. Jumping in and out of cyphers and battles over the following years kept Les sharp and well known as an emcee. His mid highschool years brought Les in contact with artists ranging from The Liks to Slick Rick while working as a promoter for Loud Records and Def Jam West. Being apart of shows and how they were run combined with the knowledge of artist and event promotion put Les on a higher level than other artists. That combined with a Bachelors Degree in audio Engineering has allowed him to get a jump on all competition. Now a well known artist and promoter, Les has 6 years experience throwing events all over the Bay Area as well as an album and 30,000 mix tapes in the streets and on the internet. Roughly 200 performances, with artists ranging from the Black Eyed Peas to Jagged Edge as well as local legends like JT the Bigga Figga, Mistah FAB and Mac Mall. Not to let his achievements and accolades as an artist allow him to take it easy, Les now co-owns and runs his own label âSwag City Music Groupâ and mans a team of approximately 50 promoters in the streets and on the internet. Heâs been called âthe most slept on artistâ in the game right now but this sleeping giant isnât about to let the public wait to wake up. Heâs making enough noise now to wake the dead and intends to make even more in the years to come.
