The six member band Steady On has an earnest heart for sharing their struggles of faith honestly and in a way that can encourage others in their own spiritual walks. Using tight vocal harmonies and an acoustic guitar driven pop rock sound, the band has collected a diverse selection of songs that they hope will both inspire and provoke fellow Christians to walk consistently in their faith.

Songwriter Jeff Sylvester and wife Angel Sylvester started work on the CD in May of 2003. Originally conceived of as a demo, the goal was simply to record some songs that Jeff had written over the past seven years. Not striving to either bypass or engage mainstream music, this was a labor of love and passion with the single goal of making honest music born out of Jeff and Angel's combined faith journeys.

Jeff's unique guitar playing and pop vocal style combined with Angel's alternative vocals immediately gave each song a unique sound that allowed it to be recorded in its own voice. As these songs began to take shape, Jeff and Angel decided to expand the scope of the project, arranging each song more fully and writing some new songs make the project a full length CD.

For the new arrangements to work a solid rhythm section was needed, so long time friend Paul Fruia pitched in on the drums. He would later join the band full time, traveling from Houston to San Antonio to play gigs. Bass player Trip Wamsley was also brought in, adding his incredible flair for originality and exception technique. Friend and Bass Player Joe Turvey would join the band for live performances and pick up where Trip left off. Because Jeff played all of the guitars on the project, Gabe Landes, another friend and solid guitar player, joined the Steady On family to play rhythm guitar parts for Steady On live shows.

Glenna Roscoe was a friend of Gabe's who joined to fill in as a third vocalist for the CD. Her powerful and passionate voice added yet another dimension to the music, allowing even further exploration of what the music could become.

Other musicians were brought in to augment the CD, notably including former Caedmon's Call Hammond Organ player Randy Holsapple and current Caedmon's Call percussionist Garett Buell.

The result, produced a year an a half after the first track was laid down, is an exciting collection of songs far removed from the humble beginnings of the project. Recorded almost entirely at the independent Blue Couch Studios and produced by Jeff and long time friend Lance Orton, Steady On's debut CD is a solid first step at what the band hopes will be a long road of encouraging ministry.
