Claude Diallo is a Swiss jazz pianist living in New York. He graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA in december 2006 and from the Aaron Copland School of Music, Queens College in New York in december 2008. Since that he performed with different jazz piano trio settings (among them Luques Curtis on bass and James Williams on drums) featuring different internationally renowned artists such as Andy McGhee (tenor sax player that played with the Woody Hermann Big Band and Lionel Hampton Band), Denzal Sinclaire (Canadian born jazz singer), Angelita Li (jazz singer from Hong Kong) and Johann Frank (guitarist that played with Phil Colins). Claude Diallo performed in the USA, Brazil, Switzerland, Louxembourg, France, Germany, Austria, Albania, Israel, Singapore, and in Taiwan. The 6th CD release: Claude Diallo Situation: Traveling with Music was recorded live in Switzerland on January 12 2008 at a club called Kultur im Baeren. This project was based on a 10 days long tour through Switzerland and Austria with Massimo Buonanno on drums, Laurent Salzard on electric bass and singer Denzal Sinclaire. The music is a mix between standard trio piano jazz mixed with original compositions. Stylistically the music moves between Swing, Fusion-Jazz, Latin-Jazz and World Music. 5 tracks on the CD are original compositions. Track 1, Koala Land is a Bob James type groove oriented composition by Claude Diallo. Track 2, Night and Day was re-arranged in 7/4 and 5/4 time. Track 3, Chick Corea's High Wire played in a standard jazz style. Track 4, Foz de Iguacu was inspired by the waterfalls of Iguacu in Brazil and written in odd-meter time as well (11/8 and 7/4) by Claude Diallo. Track 5, Rain over the River / Electricity in the Air features bass player Laurent Salzard with his original composition. Track 6, Alone Together is a performance of Lynne Arriale's arrangement of this classic jazz standard. Track 7, Ballad for Oscar Peterson is a tribute to the late Oscar Peterson, one of the main influences of Claude Diallo. Track 8: Bona, is dedicated to African electric-bass player Richard Bona and composed by Claude Diallo in an odd meter style.(10/4 and 9/4). Track 9, Yatra-ta is a composition by Brazilian artist Tania Maria. You can feel the energy of the band in this performance and the good vibe of the audience in the club. A special treat on the CD is the performance of singer Denzal Sinclaire on my One and only Love, track 10.
