Alternative Pop/Rock For Adults
12 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Acoustic, POP: Folky Pop
Details:
"My songs are about life from an adult perspective," says Steve. "I write for and about people who have been through a little crap in their lives and can appreciate music that speaks to them as an adult."
Steve's own crap began in south Louisiana where he began playing guitar at the age of 9. He later refined his chops and learned the ropes of the business as many other great musicians did: by playing nightly on New Orleans' infamous Bourbon Street. The experience led him to perform as lead guitarist with Jean ("Mr. Big Stuff") Knight in 1989. In 1996, Juno began touring with Zydeco musician Chubby Carrier throughout the continental United States and much of Europe. During his years as a band member, Steve developed a progressive catalog of original songs. In 2002, he began concentrating his career as a solo artist.
Recently, he wrote a song that was featured in the History Channel's Highway Hangouts documentary. Presently, Steve is relentlessly working to support his new CD release, 8-Track Mind. This album contains a collection of songs that have been praised as "finely crafted, melodic alternative pop for adults."
The lyrics of 8-Track Mind are well crafted and weave wonderful stories of real issues: stories about getting older and not-so-wiser ["Never Used to Say," "Waiting for One Day," and "Everything"], realizing that the "good old days" weren't so great ["Different" and "8-Track Mind"] and of course, love. The songs explore love at grittier, more practical angles, breaking away from the rose-colored hues of traditional love ballads. Juno explains, "It's about realistic love. Being in love is never a fairy tale, anyone who is truly in love knows firsthand the hard work involved." Those sentiments are expressed wonderfully in "She's in Love," "That's What You Fell In Love With" and "Two Kinds of Her." Steve adds, "As an artist and writer, I'm always looking for the beauty in the world; but as an adult, I've experienced the reality of the world. In my music, those worlds collide."
Interestingly enough, the low-tech theme evoked by the title contrasts jarringly with the enhanced CD on which it is delivered. The CD features lyrics, acoustic version mp3s, and way cool graphics to boot.
