Strych-Nine has gone through several changes, since its inception in 1991. Starting as Toxic Waste, a three piece playing mostly covers, the band changed to a quartet in 1992 calling itself Final Procedure. Although playing originals, this unit ended quickly in 1992 and the moniker Strych-Nine was settled on. The core band has essentially stayed the same while replacing the singer and drummer three times each. The current unit has been together for 5 years. The major change in the band's sound has been the vocalist and the addition of their last drummer.

"Cardiac Arrest" (1992) was the first album of all originals. It was released as a demo only and got the band their first live gigs. "Lucid Visions" was the band's second album. Recorded on a four tracker and mixed at a studio, the album was released in 1995. The fourteen original tracks were raw, but the album sold about 600 copies. "Roadkill" received extensive airplay and the video was shown on a local TV show, Home Grown Music. It helped earn the band a runner up slot in the 1995 Slammie Awards. The album made the No. 2 slot on www.cosmicradio.com. It was listed in the CMJ and the Gavin Reports.

Prior to the release of the third album, "Suicide 39" in 1998, the band saw a change in drummer and vocalist. This metamorphosed the band into the tightest band on the scene. This time the recording was done on a 24-track unit in a studio. "Iyoume" received airplay in several cities and Canada. The album made No. 8 on www.cosmicradio.com and was also listed in the CMJ and Gavin Reports.

Since the release of the last album, a final change in the lead singer has occurred. In addition, a female backing vocalist has been added, both of the changes giving the band tremendous stage presence and flair. The band has recorded and produced this fourth album, The Fastest Spoken lines and Years of Rotten Youth on their own. The album, released in 2002, is a major advance forward both in quality and content. Several songs have been requested on the radio, specifically, "Better Than That", Anthem" and "Fun In Violence". The band has been drawing crowds of 100-300 and is consistently opening for national acts, most recently Firehouse and Enuff Znuff. To demonstrate the tightness of the music, a live track was added to the album. This album promises to sell and go far with eclectic music ranging from punk, to pop rock, to heavy metal. Three songs off the album were up for a Grammy nomination, as was the album, in the Hard Rock category for 2003.
